Working at WebFX: My Review
15+ Years Growing Together in Digital Marketing
Since joining WebFX in 2010, I've had the privilege of growing alongside a company that has evolved from a small team with big ambitions to an industry leader in digital marketing. I thought it would be fun to put together a bit of a timeline and review of my experience working at WebFX for the last 15 years! What's made this journey special isn't just the professional milestones, but the people, experiences, and lasting client relationships formed along the way. Someday I'm going to have a hard time remember everything so I want to do a better job of writing it all down.
The Early Days
When I first stepped into the WebFX office (then WebpageFX) as a fresh-faced team member in 2010, digital marketing was a different landscape. Facebook was just gaining mainstream popularity, mobile optimization was an emerging concept, and SEO tactics that would make us cringe today were common practice. The first time I ever held an iPad in my hands was at the (then) WebpageFX office for my interview.
What struck me immediately was the caliber of people around me. Being surrounded by smart, driven colleagues who challenged conventional thinking made coming to work exciting. I said during my interview that what mattered most to me about a workplace was working with brilliant colleagues who would push me to grow. Happy to report in this WebFX review that I've found that in spades. I'm thankful that the founders Bill and Karie took a chance on me, a somewhat obnoxious 21 year old who didn't know near as much as he thought he did about digital marketing and everything else in life.
WebpageFX was around ~7-8 headcount whenver I joined and the team was split up into just a few small offices in Carlisle, PA. Some of my fondest memories are from those early days—collaborative problem-solving sessions that sometimes lasted well into the evening, celebrating our first major client wins, and navigating the rapidly changing digital landscape together. I remember: pitching and winning clients that we probably didn't have any business winning, doing sales, account management, corporate marketing, and customer support all at the same time, surprise client meetings that turned into birthday celebrations.
I'm forever indebted to those who worked at WebpageFX during these early years - the motley crew we assembled built something amazing.
Evolving with the Industry
One of the most rewarding aspects of my time at WebFX has been the constant opportunity to learn and adapt. Digital marketing doesn't stand still, and neither did we. From the fundamental shifts brought by major Google algorithm updates to the rise of content marketing, social media advertising, and now AI-driven strategies, each evolution in our industry presented new challenges.
This continuous learning environment kept me engaged and growing professionally. What I appreciate most is how WebFX fostered a culture where staying ahead of industry trends wasn't just encouraged—it was expected. We were constantly asking, "What's next?" and "How can we do this better for our clients?"
We did a rebrand and made some acquisitions, including buying a domain I've always dreamed of owning: SEO.com.
The People Make the Difference
"You have a choice: you can try to work with impressive people, or you can try to do impressive work with good people."
Without question, the highlight of my WebFX experience has been the people. I've had the opportunity to work alongside some of the smartest minds in digital marketing—colleagues who became mentors, collaborators, and friends. Our team has always attracted individuals who are not only talented but genuinely passionate about what they do.
Building and being part of various teams over the years has taught me that company culture isn't just about perks or policies—it's about creating an environment where people can do their best work while enjoying the journey. The collaborative spirit at WebFX has made even the most challenging projects rewarding.
Memorable Connections
The travel opportunities at WebFX have created some of my most cherished professional memories. Client visits across the country gave me perspective on the diverse businesses we serve—from family-owned companies with deep community roots to innovative startups changing their industries.
Sales trips brought their own adventures and learning experiences, while company-wide events fostered team bonding beyond the office walls. That trip to Mexico with the entire company? Still one of the best examples of how work and genuine connection can blend beautifully when a company values both results and relationships.
Client Partnerships That Last
Perhaps the most fulfilling aspect of my WebFX journey has been building lasting relationships with clients. There's something profoundly satisfying about seeing businesses grow through digital transformation. Some of the clients I worked with during my first few months back in 2010 are still WebFX partners today—a testament to the value of authentic partnership over transactional relationships.
These long-term collaborations have allowed me to witness the real impact of our work: businesses expanding their teams, opening new locations, reaching customers they never could before, and in some cases, becoming leaders in their industries. Being even a small part of these success stories has been deeply rewarding.
Sharing Knowledge
Throughout my time at WebFX, I've enjoyed contributing to our collective knowledge through blog posts and resources that help businesses navigate the digital landscape:
Looking Forward
The digital marketing landscape will continue to evolve, bringing new challenges and opportunities. What remains constant is the value of working with great people to solve meaningful problems for businesses that care about doing things right. That's been the core of my WebFX experience, and it's what continues to make this professional journey worthwhile.
